About the Project
Maa Please is an emotion-packed drama about three generations of women in a family intertwined by music and generational trauma. The movie talks about their relationship with each other and their music. The film is set in three different time periods (1960s, 1980s and 2000s) in Kanpur and unfolds a narrative structure that comes around in a complete circle.
This film is inspired by real events from my life as well my mother's and grandmother's.

The Making
I wrote this film in 2022, and shot it in 2023 as a part of my final degree-film submission. The film was shot amidst tight deadlines, with a very limited crowd-funded budget (Scroll down to watch the crowdfunding film) and a crew made up of my very talented college friends. We shot this film over 4.5 days in different locations across Pune, Maharashtra.
Talking about the songs in the film:
I wrote, composed and sang Jaago Devi
Composed and sang Kaun Thagwa
Composed and arranged the opening Palta.
We, while juggling dissertations and deadlines, also navigated last minute casting changes, fund-shortages, shift-extensions, equipment malfunctions and whatnot on set. But all of it was worth it.
The film was shot in 1.5 weeks leading up to its first ever premier in SCMC along with other degree films. We continue to make the film better and are working on its sound and colour currently.
