About the Project
"The Closet Not Taken" is a video cover on the track 'Mausam Escape' from Slumdog Millionaire by AR Rahman. It explores themes of gender expression through fashion as well as gender-led constraints on fashion.
The name "The Closet Not Taken" is inspired by Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" that talks about doing things that are not the norm. "Closet" here implies not just the literal closet of clothes, that the protagonist doesn't pick, but also the 'closet' in which the protagonist hides their gender identity.
This project was also part of a film-school assignment where in our camera movements needed to be limited as part of the assignment brief.
