Photography E-Magazine Nomenclature for Yash Pratap Singh (WIP)
Yash Pratap Singh is a Uttar Pradesh based photographer who shoots on a Panasonic LumixG7 currently.
Yash has spent a considerable amount of time in Varanasi, and willed to create an E-magazine dedicated to the street photography he practiced in Varanasi.
As the first step of this process, he reached out to me in order for it to be named in a way that is authentic and true to its content, is creative, and is precise.
I did a solo nomenclature exercise for the same and presented these ideas to him:
The name वाराणsee was hence picked.
Commissioned Poetry on Kathak for Aparna
Aparna is a renowned Kathak artist based out of Delhi. She wished to base her Kathak recital over a hindi poem.
This poem was written in rhythm and rhyme in order to match the pace of her Kathak recital. However, even after all checkpoints of her brief being met, she decided not to base her performance on this poetry for undisclosed reasons.
The piece, in each of its paragraphs talks about these things, in order- Taal cycle, thaat, aamad, paran-aamad and ladi. It equates concepts of kathak to life. Here is an excerpt from it:
Kaal chakra, aur neer chakra aur kul navgrah ka phirna
Chakra baddh hai maati me har vriksh-beej ka milna!
Har ek kadam pe beej hai kuch gatividhiyan aur badhata
Tanik tane me loch daal kar baahen-harit balkhata
vo manbhaavan phoolon se phal, phir phal se beej me badle
phir mitti ke sam par aake, aavartan poora kar le.
